Toe Jam

Yesterday evening Garrett was unusually fussy. It was followed by a very long night, made longer by my cold, wherein he would not stay asleep. As soon I laid him down he would cry. Then this morning I took off his socks and found a HAIR wrapped around his toe! Look what it did to my baby! I had to pull it off with tweezers. Poor little guy.

Looking at the Big Picture

How about now?
Mom, you were the closest. Brief explanation - This little guy was on the girls bicycle course on Saturday. Jer drew it on his parents patio. The course was complete with a bridge which they had to hold their breath when they went over it, a tunnel that they had to raise their hands when they went under, and a gas station with a trampoline that required 5 jumps each time they passed.

I love sunny Saturdays.

(For anyone still wondering, its an alligator.)

What Am I?

For my loyal followers (all two or three of you) a guessing game. Can you guess what Jer's latest sidewalk art is?

How about now?

Now?

Any guesses?

If I had...

If you haven't checked out etsy.com, you should because everything is unique and mostly handmade. I peruse it often. I haven't bought anything but if I had $90 to spend on a bag I would pick this one from the Wooly Bison, which is one of the shops on etsy.

A Child's Prayer

Anyone with kids knows that occasionally they come out with the best, most heart felt prayers. They also come up with the ridiculous and slightly irreverent. I thought I'd share one of Emma's most recent, just for kicks. This was a prayer at dinner.

...Please bless I'll feel better.
Please bless I won't get scared tonight that no witches will get me in my bad dreams. (Curse you Halloween.)
Please bless our fish that they won't die.
Please bless the frogs that they won't die.
Please bless Santa will come tonight and leave me a surprise.
Please bless that the surprise will be a toy because I like to play with them.
Please bless mom can go to the mall.
Please bless dad and Madilyn that they can work.
Please bless my plate has flowers on it....

It continued into silly giggles. Consequently, I whispered the end part to her so that we could actually eat the food. I can't remember everything she blessed but you get the gist of it.

Moral of the story - Have three-year-olds say the prayer at every meal possible.

V-Day with Kids

Its funny how before you have kids you have all these romantic ideas about what makes a great Valentine's Day.

Yesterday we had a romantic dinner at home. I'd fallen asleep on the couch after church because Garrett insists on waking every 2 hours all night long, finally getting up at 4:45, when two big blue eyes woke me up and told me it was time for dinner. The table was set. The girls were giggling because Jeremy had put candles on the table. Madilyn made the napkins fancy like a restaurant by rolling leftover birthday napkins around the silverware.

Dinner was great because I didn't have to make it.

Valentine's Day was great because I felt loved.

All You Can Do Is Try

We took the kids snow shoeing. We were realistic about this venture into the mountains. We knew that the kids would probably only last 30-45 minutes but we wanted to try it. We drove to Snoqualmie Pass looking for somewhere open enough to try our snow shoes. Turns out they charge you $17 a person to walk around the ski area with snow shoes. Nice.
We tried a place across the freeway owned by the forest service. They charge $20 a car and we had no cash. Soooo, Jeremy dropped me and the girls off at the Sno Park and he drove the car back to the ski area to park. That's when we figured out we'd forgotten Madilyn's coat. She got mine and I used my slightly shrunken wool ski sweater. Jeremy then hiked 1/4 mile back with Garrett in the backpack.
Emma whined as soon as Jer drove away that she wanted to get back in the car. We had about 20 minutes of fun before the real whining began when Madilyn joined in. The other fun part was the dog and people doody all over the trail. Again, nice.
We avoided poo and left exactly one hour after arrival. Kids were crying, except for Garrett, parents were grumpy, the van was muddy, a typical Saturday at the Nash house.
You have to try, right?

Woohoo!

Not only did I get a new modem (I've been without for two weeks and I'm having withdrawl symptoms), but I've got a functioning computer at home during the day. Woohoo! Now I've got some serious blogging to do. Ok, not serious, nothing I do is serious. I've got some blogging to do!
