What we are NOT dressing as for Halloween

Big Sisters thought it was a great idea. He wants to be a pirate.

Big sisters thought this was a good idea. I agreed. Grant refused at the ward Halloween party.

First days and Fun Run

Here's my obligatory first day of school post. I just had parent teacher conference last week, so that's only like...2 months late right?

Emma was so excited for the first day of school. She couldn't wait to take lunch to school everyday and have two recesses. The funny thing, her excitement hasn't worn off one bit. She loves school. Although she did tell me the only thing they've tried to teach her is to be quiet:)

The PTA does a Fun Run fundraiser every year. In kindergarten they kids only run for 1/2 an hour but now that Emma is a big first grader she ran for 1 hour. She did fantastic. It was cold and rainy but she smiled the whole way. Bonus of homeschooling is that Madilyn ran/walk most of her laps with her. Emma did 13 laps. Awesome.

Still Alive and Playing Catchup

Wow. Homeschool. Talk about a learning curve.

My report for homeschool - its going well over all. I've learned so much about Madilyn, how she thinks, how she learns, how she does NOT learn, how I learn (which is NOT how Madilyn learns).

We've had days that are awesome and I love homeschooling. Annnnd I've had days that I wondered what in the world I was thinking.

My biggest challenge is finding balance. Balance between teaching Madilyn, taking care of the boys, taking care of the house, feeding all these people, and keeping schedules straight (kind of failing on the last one).

As part of Madilyn's school, her and I are keeping a separate private blog for her school work, which is why I haven't been blogging much lately. Getting that blog going has taken some time and effort and is also why I probably won't be posting many pictures of school stuff here...in theory.

We've had some fun stuff going so I'm going to be playing catch up with the blog.
